It`s been around the internet, but still seems like rumors. Is Toyota FT-86 concept going to be presented in Geneva 2010 for europe? The Geneva auto show website contains some FT86 photos in their gallery, but nothing new and there is no article mentioning the FT86. Its clear that Lexus CT-200H and Toyota Auris hybrid is joining the show, but nothing about the FT86.. The rumor of FT-86 at Geneva appeared a few days ago and now even big car websites talk about it. Anyone got real proof from Toyota or auto-salon.ch?
The show is in Geneva, Switzerland, March 4-14..
And if the concept makes it to the show - will it be the same red car we`ve seen or in new exterior from CALTY Design Research? cant wait.. :/

Geneva 2010: Toyota FT-86 Concept… Still A Concept
By Colum Wood, Monday March 1 2010
Autoguide.com
Despite rumors that the Toyota FT-86 Concept would debut at the Geneva Auto Show in production form, it appears as though that isn’t the case. As the very first thing show-goers will see when they enter Hall 4 at Europe’s most prestigious motor show, its obvious the importance that Toyota places on this vehicle – a model that could help rebrand the Japanese automaker while giving it some much-needed positive PR.
The rumors of a redesign are also false, which is probably a good thing as the car probably couldn’t get much better looking.
The name FT-86 brings together Toyota’s past and future, with the “FT” coming from the FT-HS hybrid concept from a few years back, while the “86″ is donated from the AE-86, a small rear-drive, two-door Corolla-based sports car (called the Hachi-Roku), made famous by drifters.
Other than the design of the car (which is certainly impressive with plenty of Lexus LF-A inspired goodness), we still don’t know a lot about the FT-86 concept. What we do know is that it will be light weight, with “racecar-like handling” and be powered by a 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder engine from Subaru.
With Toyota’s press conference set for tomorrow, we’ll be sure to listen carefully for when Toyota plans to bring this sporty model to market.
I just dont get why they talk so much about rumors on their car news site.. The big sites spread the rumors themselves about the ft86

Toyota wouldn`t show this car
Toyota wouldn`t show this car if there was a FT-86 redesign confirmed. seems the ft86 concept design will pretty much make it to the production! of course, except the carbon parts, interior, etc costly things..

Video: Toyota FT-86
Transcript:
Having introduced two new mainstream vehicles which deliver tangible customer benefits, let me end on a different note. From the Celica to the MR2, and the Supra, Toyota has created a heritage of exciting sports models. Now, with its distinctive front engine and real-wheel drive configuration, the FT-86 Concept is ready to introduce the next generation of Toyota sports cars. It is extremely light, with a low centre of gravity. This delivers an instant, precise response to even the slightest throttle and steering input. When we introduce the FT-86 Concept in early 2012, it will bring real joy in the Toyota showroom.
Ladies and gentlemen, this concludes my presentation today. I thank you very much for your attention - and please join me at the Lexus press conference, which begins in a few minutes, for another sensational world premiere.
Thank you very much.

Anyone disappointed about
Anyone disappointed about Toyota setting FT-86 release date to 2012? In these hard times Toyota have to set their quality control to extreme state, so the car will be also tested enough - less glitches for the first rollout! I really dont mind waiting, as long as Toyota keeps us happy with updates. I'll be collecting money for these 2 years so I don`t have to take a loan and worry about warranty, when I start to upgrade the car.. (cause upgrading a base model is more fun than buying the top version, like wrx compared to sti)
And if the FT86 is ready prior to 2012 it is possible to release it earlier. It would be dumb to set too optimistic dates to 2011..
