here`s a comparison with Audi TT Rs and Toyota FT-86
the audi is 4cm longer.
I have driven the Audi. It is a damn small car. but the comparison shows it all. the FT86 is a small and low go-kart!!

Some guys are worrying about fitment in this car. I think the FT-86 will be no smaller interior than other cars. Minus the rear seats. While the car seems 10-15 cm smaller than audi tt or half meter compared to subaru, lol, the driver position is totally different. The dashboard and windshield lower line is about 10cm lower to ground than audi. the bonnet is almost not visible from driver`s perspective (this will probably be changed for those pedestrian killing strategies). Toyota said it feels like driving a GO kart, so that will probably reflect how the driver sits also. As much as it will be fun to drive the car around track I hope it`s also comfortable for longer trips...

How come the bonnet has to be changed? I dont understand?

It has something to do with pedestrian safety when the car hits one. Ironic isnt it. There is a calculated bonnet height and form where chances to survive a car accident increase or something. Im not sure how Lambos and Ferraris get past this, they also have pretty low bonnets.

compared to the good ol ae86. the biggest difference is longer wheel base which really helps controlling the car for the average driver :)

Here is something cool:

http://wot.motortrend.com/scion-fr-s-has-junk-in-the-trunk-meets-nissan-gt-r-170325.html

2013 Nissan GT-R and Scion FR-S front
Here’s one thing we’d like to know about the Scion FR-S, or rather, its future owners: how many of these RWD sports coupes will seriously be hitting the track once they drop into consumer hands?

2013-nissan-gt-r-and-scion-fr-s-front-three-quarters

Honestly, we want to know. Scion hosted the FR-S media launch at the Sodegaura Forest Raceway in Japan, and there’s no doubt in any of our minds that the long-awaited sports car is destined for greatness. It’s more than just a car; it should be well on track in inspiring a fresh wave of driving enthusiasts, curious to know what it’s like to hang a car near the limit. While we’re looking forward to more seat time stateside, we also wanted to check the claim that the FR-S can take a full set of mounted wheels and tires and tools onboard. And just for kicks, we brought along a Nissan GT-R that was lying around.

Having an extra set of tires available is a godsend on2013-nissan-gt-r-and-scion-fr-s-rear those hot track days when greasy is on the menu, and who doesn’t bring equipment like a jack and hand tools with them to a track day? If there’s one piece of consumer advice we can hand out today, it’s that the FR-S can handle four full-size wheel/tires (17-inch wheels wrapped in 215/45-17 Michelin Primacy HP rubber), a two-ton-rated jack, air compressor, and toolbox with alarming ease. We should have brought more junk.

2013-scion-fr-s-folded-back-seat

Two mounted wheels fit on top of the folded back seat with no problems. Will four be an issue?

2013-scion-fr-s-front-drivers-seat

Nope. Trust us, you can still drive with four wheels/tires behind you. We recommend securing the load.

2013-scion-fr-s-passenger-window

These seats come standard. This is an automatic FR-S, though passers-by could be fooled by the shifter if they were just quickly glancing inside.

2013-scion-fr-s-trunk-2

The view from the back. That's an air compressor behind the toolbox, and there's still space for an ice cooler and other track day necessities.

The GT-R's trunk managed to take two FR-S tires/wheels, with a third popping out.

Decision, decisions...

For those wondering if there is enough space in the back:

If anyone gets the
chance, please, please take a picture with an adult sitting in front and then
someone behind them in the back. I want to know how much room there really is in
back. If this thing is like an audi TT and can't fit 2 young kids in back that
is going to be a problem for me and a lot of others. No cross country journeys,
but they need to be able to fit for going around
town.

Funny you say that I went in the back
and let me tell you I thought i wasn't going to fit but I did lol I'm 6' feet
too....pushed the seat back and believe it or not I had probably 1 inch of room
from my legs to the seat....also after seating down in the kinda comfortable
seat my head was kinda touching the glass...so yes there is room....but staying
back there for more then 4 hours...iiiiiiiiii don't think so

Just saw it in Irvine at the dealer. Sat in it and
checked it out for about 15-20 min, it ''feels'' semi-luxurious, high quality
materials. I positioned the drivers seat slightly closer to the steering wheel
than what would be ideal for me (im 6' 1''), and, using the height adjuster,
made the seat as high as it would go. I then got in the back seat and found that
I had a decent amount of room. My feet were under the front seat and my knees
were off to the side of the front seat. It was not comfortable but it was not
unbearable either, could last perhaps an hour without hurting. All other 2+2's
I've sat it have been far more uncomfortable and tight than this. Other than
that the front seats felt good for a sports car but not as low to the ground as
I would have imagined (but they are still low). The guy at the dealer said he
took it for a spin (he got in trouble for that) and he said the ride was not
jarring nor to soft either, he said it was ''medium'' for sports car. Sorry no
pics. But go check it out they are pretty cool over there. He said no test
drives though.
