Held on the same day as the circuit's Fan Appreciation Day, many SUPER GT fans who are eagerly waiting for the season opening flocked to watch the official test and teams strenuously repeating test runs in front of them. As FIA GT3 cars will be accepted into SUPER GT this year, the regulations for both GT500 and GT300 will also be changed and the lap times of these two cars will be faster. With many more cars participating, this year's races are expected to be even more exciting than the previous years.

The SUBARU BRZ GT300 also ran many laps to fix setups while often coming into the garage for adjustments in areas such as the suspension. On the first day, the BRZ completed 79 laps and recorded the 5th fastest time of all 20 GT300 cars. Driver Tetsuya Yamano said, “We still have many things to do. This is only the beginning for the BRZ”. After the day's test, the team had a meeting and changed the settings of the car.

Deputy General Manager of the Motorsport Project Office of STI, Hideharu Tatsumi, who led the development of the car, said, “This car is still at the stage where we are collecting setting data, and we've had reasonable results so far. By simply fine-tuning the alignment or adjusting the aerodynamic balance a little, the behaviour of the car changes. Even so, this car can already go around a lap faster than last year's Legacy. We still have some gaps with our rivals, but we will be able to narrow them little by little”. On the second day, the BRZ ran 97 laps and was in 8th in the class.

R&D SPORT Team Director Shinji Motojima said, “For sure, we still have lots of problems, but we found some clues to solve them towards the end of this test. We'll think about things and would like to be ready by the season opener”. This year's SUPER GT will kick off with Round 1 on Saturday 31 March and Sunday 1 April at Okayama International Circuit.
