Formula Drift Long Beach 2019
Kicking off 2019 season with covering Formula Drift series. The first round of FormulaD like every year starts here in Streets of Long Beach. For PRO1 championship we have Ken Gushi, Ryan Tuerck, Dai Yoshihara and Jhonnattan Castro. Unfortunately Cameron Moore will not run in the series this year.
The first round opened with city cruise with the race cars where fans and random bypassers could see the cars in person as well as talk to the drivers.
Friday was qualifications day. Ken Gushi qualified 17th, Jhonnattan Castro 15th, Ryan Tuerck 7th and Dai Yoshihara highest - 4th position.

Saturday was race day. Jhonnattan Castro lost to Dean Kearney in Top32. One of the worst accidents happened to Ryan Tuerck in Top32 - his steering belt went off and Tuerck went straight into wall. Thankfully there was tire barrier and Tuerck walked away with concussion and light injuries. The Gumout Toyota 86 however is totaled and we are yet to see if Ryan Tuerck will return for following rounds, rumors say the team will build his street car. Gushi and Yoshihara both advanced to Top16. Gushi lost to No.1 qualifier Matt Field. Dai Yoshihara lost to his Falken teammate Justin Pawlak.
End of april Formula Drift will take place in Orlando Speedworld with both PRO1 and PRO2 championships. Stay tuned!
